About the Owners

David Spector grew up with his sister Ilene helping his father George around the store. As a young boy he would help process and fold the statements at the kitchen table. After graduating from Bentley College in 1982, David began full-time employment with his father at Modern Hardware and Paint Co. His lifetime of experience with paint and hardware eased the transition of ownership when his father retired in 2002. David is now teaching the third generation of Spectors his expertise in color matching and customer satisfaction. From his home in Boxford David delights in his three children's accomplishments while awaiting their graduations from their reputable schools.

George Thurrott has been affiliated with Modern Hardware and Paint Co. since his Medford High School days in the late sixties. After graduation Medford High School in 1970 he continued to work part time while pursuing his Bachelor's Degree at Northeastern University. Upon matriculation George Spector offered George a full-time position at Modern Hardware and Paint Co. in which he stayed until August of 1980. After working 21 years selling tools and fasteners to the construction industry George returned to Modern Hardware and Paint Co. as a co-owner with David Spector in January of 2002. He presently resides in Lowell, MA with his wife of 35 years, Jackie, and enjoys his time off playing with his four grandchildren!
